FareCompare reports that American Airlines filed fare increases
ranging from $5 to $20 (one-way) across its network in the 8 pm update
last night (Dec 20th).
So far the other carriers are waiting to decide whether or not to match American’s increase.
The increases were primarily in 3-day, 7-day, 14-day and 21-day advance
purchase buckets.

While the network carriers still need a few more solid years to make up for the losses incurred since 2001, the chart below (from BTS) shows the jump to profitability starting in Q2 2005.
