I bumped into this by chance this morning. It appears that Travelocity is experimenting with a new “no-frills” site at www.cheaptotravel.com. I tested the air search and the results definitely look like Travelocity.
The domain name is registered to Travelocity.com LP and was last updated on January 5, 2007.
Based on the limited google search results, it looks like this site has only been up since the beginning of this year.
My first guess is that Travelocity is testing the waters to see if it can create a bargin brand similar to CheapTickets.com at Travelport. CheapToTravel.com would definitely perform well for search engine optimization.
Has anyone else heard anything about this?
