Since United tried unsuccessfully to raise fares by $5 on January 19, it’s been very quiet on the fare
front — perhaps too quiet.
As a rule, carriers like to post system-wide increases on Thursday nights. That gives the other carriers the weekend to decide whether or not they want to join in.
This is just a guess, but I think we may well see another attempt at an increase tomorrow night (Feb 1).
