Fares have been see-sawing this week, reaching a relative high of 464 on Sunday when all of the network carriers joined in on Delta’s fare increase.

Yesterday carriers rolled back the $5 increase in successive waves. While the scope of the original increase has been much reduced, so far at least, this increase appears to be holding.
This morning American, Continental, Delta and United all rolled back a significant portion of the $5 fare increases. While rolling back some increases, Delta expanded its $5 increase in the same update to secondary markets.
Alaska Airlines also joined in on the $5 increase in this morning’s feed. Alaska’s increase affects 86 top markets.

Last night Northwest joined Delta’s system-wide increase, raising fares by $5 one-way.
At this point all of the network carriers have joined Delta’s increase which began on March 22.
It is not unusual for all of the network carriers to join in on an increase and still have the increase rolled back.
Last night Continental, United and US Airways joined Delta’s system-wide increase raising fares by $5 one-way.
At this point all of the network carriers except Northwest have joined in on Delta’s increase.
In the 12:30 update today American Airlines matched Delta’s $5 one-way increase.
American raised fares in 778 top markets (74% of American’s top markets). Delta’s increase last night affected 803 top markets (71% of Delta’s top markets).
Top markets: 1,250 most traveled city pairs in the US and Canada.

None of the network carriers matched Delta’s $5 increase in the 10 am update this morning. There is an update at 12:30 and 8 pm today as well as updates at 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Typically by Sunday night it is clear whether or not the increase will stick.
