Midwest Tries Its Own $1 Increase

Posted on Tuesday 8 May 2007

This afternoon Midwest airlines filed a $1 one-way increase across it’s
network. This comes on the heels of the collapse of the system-wide $5
increase last night.

Midwest’s increase applies to walk-up, 3-day, 7-day, 14-day and 21-day
fares and affects 275 of the top 1,200 markets or 23%.

Given the lack of success of the previous increases, it will be
interesting to see whether this smaller increase will be matched by
both the network carriers and Southwest. Approximately 170 of the top
markets affected by Midwest’s increase are served by Southwest Airlines
as well.
