With three system-wide increases in a 11 day period, it is difficult to
distinguish between each event.
Below
is a chart that shows by carrier the number of $5 increases still
in effect for the top 1,200 markets in the US & CA.
At least for now the last $5 increase filed by Continental on May 14 as
a fuel surcharge appears to be sticking.
I have uploaded an excel
file with the $5 increases and decreases by carrier by market for
walk-up fares starting with May 3. Please feel free to download the
spreadsheet for more detailed research on the changes for the top 1,200
markets since May 3rd.
To recap, the most recent fare increase events are:
Continental, May 3rd, $5 increase
Delta, May 10th, $5 increase
Continental, May 14th, $5 increase (filed as a fuel surcharge)
Note that the totals may reflect more than one $5 increase per city
pair, i.e. a net increase of $10 or even $15 one-way for any given city
pair. For example, American Airlines filed three increases of $5 for
Albuquerque to Memphis during this period and filed one $5 reduction,
representing an increase of $10 one-way for this city pair.
Note that the price increases and decreases in the excel spreadsheet
are listed as $10 for round-trip travel.
