Continental Rolls Back Most of Increase

In this afternoon’s update, Continental rolled back its $5 increase in 604 top markets. United and Delta also rolled back the increase in some top markets.
Below is a chart with the current stats. At this point Continental has the fewest top markets with the increase still in place (9%).

This evening American, Delta, Northwest and United all rolled back the
$5 increase in Southwest overlap markets. Below is a chart showing the

Northwest Joins $5 Increase

This evening Northwest Airlines joined the $5 one-way increase started
by Delta on May 10th.
Northwest’s increase affects 632 of the top 1,200 markets. In the last
round started by Continental on May 3rd, Northwest matched the increase

In this evening’s update United and US Airways joined Delta’s $5
increase.
United’s increase affects 748 of the top 1,200 markets.
US Airways increase affects 773 of the top 1,200 markets.
Northwest has not yet joined in on this round of increases.
The next update is tomorrow evening at 5 pm.

Continental and Midwest Join Delta $5 Increase

In the afternoon update, Continental and Midwest both joined Delta’s $5
increase.
Continental’s increase affects 716 of the top 1,200 markets
Midwest’s increase affects 262 of the top 1,200 markets.
The next fare update is this evening at 8 pm.

American Joins the $5 Increase

In this morning’s update, American matched the $5 one-way increase.
American’s increase affects 659 of the top 1,200 markets.
This round of increases was started by Delta last night. This is
Delta’s third attempt to raise fares this year.
We can expect other carriers to match in the afternoon and evening fare
updates.

Delta Starts New Round of $5 Increases

This evening Delta filed a system-wide $5 increase (one-way). The
increase affects 767 of the top 1,200 markets. The increase applies to
walk-up, 3-day, 7-day, 14-day and 21-day fares.
